<p>While many businesses were closed or seriously limited by the COVID-19 pandemic, here at Blue Grass Home Entertainment, our store was able to stay open and our showroom was available for appointments. Still, with the reduced foot traffic, we were able to make several upgrades to our showroom that we think would look great in your home!</p>



<p>We added an in-store golf simulator over the winter, giving you a chance to “try before you buy” with a wide selection of clubs, courses, and modes to experiment with. Our simulator has a dedicated projector, screen and space in our store and uses padded paneling to quiet the sound from a golf club’s thwack. Come see ours, and let us help build yours!</p>



<p>We’ve also installed an outdoor display area with a SunBrite TV and a speaker setup guaranteed to keep you and a patio full of guests entertained all summer long.
On top of the major additions, we have made a few minor changes to our array of home entertainment setups across the store to keep up with ever-improving technological specs, including Klipsch home theater speakers that will knock your socks off!
Our staff is still sanitizing the store regularly and after client meetings, and taking cleanliness seriously. Showroom hours are 9 am – 6 pm Monday through Friday, and by appointment only on Saturdays and Sundays. We are also available for virtual appointments.</p>

<p>The world of home electronics is an ever-changing environment, having seen this world go from Plasma to LED to OLED in the last 10 years now we have new formats to consider. High-dynamic-range (HDR) is a technology improving the signal that displays receive. It is contrasted with the retroactively-named standard dynamic range. HDR changes the way the luminance and colors of videos and images are represented in the signal. It allows representing brighter and more detailed highlights, darker and more detailed shadows, and a wider array of more intense colors. Imagine watching a Kentucky Wildcats Football game and being able to see true depth and realism, almost like you are sitting in the stands. HDR can give you this unique&nbsp;experience.</p>

<p style="font-weight: bold;">HDR is available in 3 different types.</p>

<p style="font-weight: bold;">HDR 10</p>

<p>HDR 10 is an HDR format compatible with all TV/Projectors that support HDR as it’s the minimum specification required. It provides the baseline requirements for HDR content and it supports a bit depth of 10 bits video stream and 1.07 billion colors.</p>

<p style="font-weight: bold;">HDR 10+</p>

<p>HDR10+ expands on the already existing HDR10 format and included dynamic metadata which is specific to each frame in a video whereas static metadata gives information about the whole video. HDR10+ is the main competitor to Dolby Vision. By including dynamic metadata, it supports a bit depth of 10 bits video stream and 1.07 billion colors and can be used to better control the brightness of the screen and allow up to 10000 nits of brightness.</p>

<p style="font-weight: bold;">Dolby Vision</p>

<p>Dolby Vision offers 12bit color, but most displays only allow up to 10bit of color nowadays. When more 8K TVs are widely available, we should see an increase of 12bit displays. Also, Dolby Vision supports a peak brightness of 10000 nits just like HDR10+ from a technical point of view. Thanks to the 12bit depth of color, Dolby Vision supports up to 68billion colors, when 12bit displays are available, 12bit scenes will look superior to scenes using a 10bit color depth.</p>

<p>Overall any HDR capable TV or Projector will offer a superior picture quality to a traditional TV. Dolby Vision is setup for future growth being the only offering to allow 12bit color depth which will be more widely available as 8k TV’s and Projectors are manufactured.</p>

Listening and problem solving are some of our project managers’ many skills, and they will work with you to create an estimate that reflects the work you want done. Our certified, top-notch technicians will work to install your technology solution over a matter of hours or days depending upon the job’s requirements.Throughout the process, your project manager will stay in touch with updates and be available in case you need to change or add anything to your project. Before our technicians leave, they’ll teach you how to use your equipment and make sure you’re familiar with your system’s components.</p>

<h2>WHAT IS DOLBY ATMOS AND WHY SHOULD YOU GET&nbsp;IT?

<p>If you’re in the market for a new home theater or upgrading your current one, you’re almost certainly planning on having surround sound. For years, before the incorporation of Atmos and other overhead speakers, surround sound setups were 5.1 and 7.1 systems. The first number would represent the number of full range speakers, and the second represented the subwoofer. Working alongside your surround speakers and subwoofer(s), Dolby Atmos adds an extra dimension to your audio experience. Operating from ceiling-based speakers, Atmos gives an overhead effect to your audio, enabling you to feel even completely immersed in the middle of the action playing out on screen. In some cases, your Atmos speakers may not operate from the ceiling. Instead, they may be Atmos-enabled speakers aimed towards the ceiling to reflect the sound.</p>

<p>In Atmos-equipped setups, the number format expands. For example, if you have a 5.1 system with four Atmos speakers, it would be classified as a 5.1.4 system, with the last number representing your number of overhead speakers.</p>

<p>Atmos made its debut in June 2012, at a premiere for the Pixar movie Brave. Since then, it’s become used in thousands of movie theaters and spread to home usage. While most media since then has been made with traditional surround sound in mind, the transition to Atmos has become more prevalent in Netflix and other streaming services in recent years.
</p>

<p>Other formats using the same concept as Dolby Atmos include DTS-X and Auro 3-D, but as with most things audio, Dolby pioneered the technology. If DTS-X sounds familiar to you, it might be because it is the format used most often by Disney and Marvel films. Ultimately, there’s not a tangible difference between overhead formats. They all use the same audio channels and the sound produced is dependent on your speakers, not the format itself.
</p>

<p>Because of its use in streaming and newer Blu-Rays, Atmos and the other overhead formats are here to stay for the foreseeable future. Most devices and smartphones since 2017 come with the capability to record and mix Atmos audio.
</p>
